Jacobo:

The Okupa "Che Guevara" is in the School of Philosophy and Letters in the UNAM (University City). There's a subway station near there (I think its Copilco). I met a couple of people from the okupa, there seems to be many different collectives working in that space (the okupa is the auditorium of the School). You are going to see black and red flags out there. They are mostly anarquists. Last time I was there, they maintained a vegetarian kitchen. You can spend the night there, smoking out, hearing stories, and playing soccer. When I was there we were mostly drawing though.
If you read Spanish you have to go to the "librerias de viejo" behind the templo mayor (by the Zocalo). They have tons of old books! Many in English and German. Around El Zocalo (metro Zocalo) there's many museums and cultural centers. Like Centro Cultural Espana, el Museo de la Ciudad, etc.
Tlatelolco would also be a good place to visit. Remember about the student uprising of 68? That's where it took place. We also lost many buildingss there to the 85 earthquake. In the main plaza, you will see the three main components of Mexican contemporary culture. The prehispanic pyramid, the European Church, and a "modern" building (which is the Foreign Affairs building). You also need to check out the Bellas Artes palace by la Alameda Central. It's no longer sinking though! Maybe there's a concert. If you are into alternative cultures, go to the Museo del Chopo on a saturday. That's one of the center for the Gothic, punk, community.
If you want to be in a more bohemian environment outside la Condesa or la Roma, go to Coyoacan, my hometown, which is the epicenter for writers, intellectuals, and hippies. That's where all the CHiapas caravans originate from! And they have many cafes and bookstores where you can socialize with the locals. There you will find Trotsky's house (where he was taken out), Frida Kahlo's museum.
Some people like to go to Xochimilco too (there's water canals) and hire a boat adorned with flowers, get drunk, and start singing nonsense.
Anyways, enjoy the city. Get drunk. Do shrums. It's all about the place. I can't wait to go back.

Buenissimo! Thanks. I went to Zocalo and Okupache already, and I'll write more about it later. Me and my cousin are going to Coyoacan this week; its' her favorite place in D.F. too. I'll be looking for sub-cultures, drop-outs, anarchists, hippies, artists, intellectuals, prisoners all week, and hopefully, interviewing them for radioActive. Hasta manana, adios. Any idea where "Radio Zapote" is? Ever heard of them?
